Garmin Nuvi 2797LMT Sat Nav Review

The Garmin Nuvi 2797LMT GPS for Cars is our favourite Car GPS unit on the market right now given that its good value for money, very easy to use and is the best performing GPS unit of all the models that we have tested. Most importantly, you’re buying a Garmin gps unit so you know that it has been tried and tested over the last 30 years and it will work now and long into the future.

The 2797LMT comes with Garmin’s all new 7-Inch high-resolution screen that acts as both a navigation screen and a touch screen to input your destination. Once you’re ready to use your Garmin 2797lmt gps unit, simply switch it on using the button at the top of the unit and your present with gamins famous interface which is super easy to use and allows you to easily navigate yourself around your gps unit. Once you’re ready to drive, enter your destination using the full keyboard and the touchscreen and the gps will quickly and easily calculate your route based on traffic information that the unit receives from the free lifetime traffic alerts. If you want to plan a trip ahead of time, this is also possible using the trip planner app in the gps unit which enables you arrange a number of stops into whatever order you like and schedule your own departure and arrival times.

Customer Reviews

Navigation is very easy give the gps unit provides both voice navigation in the form of turn-by-turn directions using gamins natural-sounding Real Voice and on screen prompt to show you which direction you should be heading to. When you comes across a difficult interchange, the unit switches itself into the Garmin Active Lane Guidance mode which uses both graphic images complete with arrows to help you take the right lane to get to your destination and Garmin’s bird’s eye junction view which provides you with a detailed aerial picture of the road network.

If you’re bored along your route, then you can take a look inside Garmin’s POI database (Points of Interest Database) which contains millions of places that you could visit along your route from popular shops or restaurants to ATM’s and gas stations. As an added benefit, the 2797LMT can also be used in conjunction with Foursquare meaning that you can check-in and read detailed reviews and customer ratings, price ranges of any of the places along your route.

To protect your licence, Garmin have recently introduced their Speed Camera Alert system and the Garmin 2797LMT is the first car gps satellite navigation system to have this on as standard. The system works well and will show you where any speed cameras are along your route and your current speed as well as the road limit speed to help ensure that you stick to the rules. The system works very well but it only works for fixed speed cameras and does not work for moveable speed camera.

Extra features include Bluetooth capability so that you connect your gps with your smartphone for hands free calls, voice commands, smart link compatible to connect to your PC and Garmin Express to keep you GPS unit up to date with the latest software and map updates.
